Episode 7 Part One:
Just recorded episode seven (part one) with my good friend Joey Joe Joe. What a great experience. We covered a wide range of music topics to include timeless video game soundtracks, fantastic persons in the game score community, and the blending and use of pop songs in popular games.
Joe has an extreme passion for music and sound engineering. He does all the post pro and mixing for our podcast in his personal studio and does a fine job at it. So, Joe, we really appreciate it (WBG shout out!). Some great tracks Joe finds unforgettable are
Bioshock Infinite, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken"
Zelda (Symphonic version)
Last of Us, Main Theme
Honorable mention: Final Fantasy
Episode 7 Part Two:
We started with Joe's number one song in a video game: The gospel hymn from the game Bioshock Infinite.
We also talked briefly about the history of video game music and its development over the last three decades. Joe referenced an article written by Glenn McDonald "A History of Video Game Music". Lastly, we transitioned into the well thought out use of licensed music in major and not so major video game titles (listed below). Enjoy!
Sigur Ros used over a Prince of Persia trailer.
